Back Pain & Sciatica

Persistent back pain and sciatica are among the most common conditions we treat. You don’t have to keep managing it with painkillers — there’s usually a structural reason, and it can be addressed.

UNDERSTANDING BACK PAIN AND SCIATICA

Back pain covers a wide range of presentations — from simple muscular strain to disc bulges, facet joint irritation and nerve involvement. Sciatica refers to pain that travels from the lower back through the buttock and down one leg — often with burning, tingling or numbness — caused by irritation of the sciatic nerve.
The key to effective treatment is accurate diagnosis. The same symptom can come from completely different causes, which is why a thorough assessment is always the starting point — not a standard protocol applied to every back.

HOW WE TREAT IT

Treatment at TOP Chiropractic Acupuncture combines chiropractic assessment, joint mobilisation and manipulation, acupuncture for nerve pain and muscular spasm, and flexion distraction therapy for disc and stenosis presentations. Where appropriate, targeted rehabilitation exercises are also prescribed.
For disc-related cases, we work carefully within safe parameters. If your presentation requires imaging or specialist referral, we’ll tell you directly.
We see patients with back pain from across the area — West Ryde, Meadowbank, Ryde, Carlingford, Eastwood and Epping. Most notice meaningful improvement within 4–6 sessions when the underlying cause is properly identified.
